Job summary
The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship in Canton, MI. You will work in the field with experienced arborists on pruning, removal, cabling, and Plant Health Care, gaining hands-on skills in a safety-first environment.
Hours are 40-50 per week, Monday–Friday with some Saturdays. Salary is $22–$23 hourly. Driver’s license is required; CDL is a plus. This internship provides career development, training, and regional workshop support.

Responsibilities
- Assist in tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance.
- Operate field equipment safely (chainsaws, chippers, tools).
- Support Plant Health Care activities and daily field operations.
- Engage with clients and contribute to service quality and health of trees and landscapes.

SALARY: $22 -$ 23 hourly
- Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
- Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license a plus

- Interns work toward completing the CDP “C” Climber/Trimmer & Plant Health Care Career Development Booklets
- All climbing gear, uniforms, and PPE are provided

- Regional Summer Intern Workshops featuring one-on-one instruction with Skills Trainers & Scientists
- Monthly Check-In Calls with Davey Leaders to review progress and build connections
