The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an aspiring Arborist Trainee for Summer 2027 in Fort Collins, CO. This on-site, temporary internship offers hands-on field experience across Tree Care, Plant Health Care, Sales and Client Services.

You’ll join a tree crew and progressively learn pruning, removal, and safety practices, with opportunities to climb and operate equipment, and to gain industry-specific licenses and certifications where applicable.

• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Able to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Able to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.

STARTING DATE

Flexible - We are currently seeking internship candidates for Summer 2027. This is a temporary, full-time position ideal for college students on summer break who want to gain hands‑on experience in the field.

Rate of pay: $22.00 hourly

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Learn to climb trees! (Yes, we will pay you to do that.)


• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills


• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to:


• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines


• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy


• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems


• Assist in removal of hazardous trees


• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors


• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights


• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire


• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire


• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
