Job summary

The City of Phoenix invites applications for an Urban Forestry Technician to care for and maintain the city’s urban forest. You will operate an aerial bucket truck, climb trees up to 70 feet, prune to reduce hazards, and inspect trees in parks and right‑of‑way while using safety gear and various equipment.

Minimum qualifications include one year of tree maintenance experience and a Class A CDL by the end of the 12‑month probation.

Qualifications

• One year of tree maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform pruning and removal work.
• Other combinations of experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Operate an aerial bucket truck for tree maintenance.
• Climb trees and work at heights 30–70 feet.
• Use safety equipment and prune to preserve health.
• Inspect trees along rights‑of‑way and parks for needed action.
• Operate equipment such as aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws.
