Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts is seeking an Arborist Ground Person in Southampton, NY. This entry-level position offers hands-on training in pruning, rigging, cabling, and the removal of hazardous trees on residential and commercial properties.

You will join a safety-first team, learn to operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts, and grow through company-provided training and resources. Valid driver’s license preferred; degree in arboriculture or related field is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with hands-on training in arboriculture.
• Must be able to learn and follow safety procedures.
• Preferred but not required: experience in tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture.

Responsibilities

• Perform pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing under supervision.
• Assist with removal of hazardous trees.
• Learn to operate ground-based equipment and tools safely.
• Support Arborist Climbers and Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.

As an Arborist Ground Person, you will play an important role in

• Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including
  • Pruning trees
  • Rigging
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
  • Implementing work zone safety procedures
  • Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
• Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies
• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
• Interest in working outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team
• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
• Valid driver's license
• Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required
