Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring a utility tree climber for Charlotte, NC. You will work on-site, performing pruning, removal, and line clearance for major electric utilities, using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.

You will also maintain gear, follow safety practices, and support a growing field crew. Starting at a $27 hourly rate, the role offers union-backed benefits, travel opportunities, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticides licenses or certificates, if required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for major electric utilities safely and skillfully.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools/equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc.
• Collaborate as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
• Growth opportunities depend on performance.
