Job Skills / Requirements
SUMMARY

Maintain trees and shrubs, through systematic pruning and integrated pest management as part of an overall plant health care program for the landscape at a client site in the southwest region of the United States. Supervise and perform daily, specialty tasks such as cabling, bracing, and safe removals of trees. Maintain digital records of plant health assessments, removal inventory, and related storm damage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. 1. Plans, oversees and performs tree maintenance operations.
  2. 2. Supports grounds manager by monitoring budget for labor hours and material purchases.
  3. 3. Performs personnel reviews on all arborist employees.
  4. 4. Performs routine, frequent grounds inspections.
  5. 5. Plans and monitors preventive maintenance program for all grounds related equipment.
  6. 6. Conducts routine, frequent meetings with client staff regarding grounds and tree maintenance.
  7. 7. Ability to operate motor vehicles, lift/move equipment, materials, supplies and tools; wear protective clothing as required by client and company.
  8. 8. Communicate with sub-contractors and ensure they follow Client safety guidelines.
  9. 9. Keep a daily log to notate issues and progress during the year. 10. Keep all logs up to date.
  10. 11. Perform safety training.
  11. 12. Ability to understand specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings for installation, maintenance and repair of structures and equipment.
  12. 13. Required to follow all company, client, and regulatory agency policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to conduct detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
