Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts in Cleveland, OH, is offering a winter arboriculture internship for undergraduate students during November 2025 through January 2026. You will learn fundamentals of scientific tree and shrub care and gain hands-on experience in pruning, rigging, cabling/bracing, removals, and equipment operation.

You will also explore pest management, tree and disease identification, soil sampling, and report writing, while participating in safety meetings and building professional

Qualifications

• Passion for nature and the outdoors.
• Pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Turfgrass, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture or related field.
• Interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Learn fundamentals of scientific tree and shrub care and arboriculture tasks.
• Perform pruning, rigging, cabling/bracing, root collar excavations, removals, and operate equipment.
• Understand integrated pest management, including inspections, identification and soil sampling.
• Participate in safety and training meetings and build professional relationships.

Responsibilities

Winter Internships - November 2025 through January 2026 (flexible start and end dates).

As an Arboriculture Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of scientific tree and shrub care, while exploring different facets of this rewarding industry. Your internship may provide the following hands‑on experience:

• Learning and safely performing different aspects of arboriculture, including:
  • Pruning
  • Rigging
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Root collar excavations
  • Removals
  • Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts)
• Gaining an understanding of integrated pest management programs, including:
  • Property inspections
  • Tree identification
  • Insect and disease identification and management
  • Soil sampling
  • Record‑keeping, report writing, and client relations
• Participating in safety and training meetings and developing professional relationships and friendships
