Job summary

ADESA, a Carvana-owned company, seeks an Inspector to oversee vehicle inspections, arbitration reports, and quality control across site operations. You will manage the inspection pipeline, ensure accuracy, and liaise with buyers and sellers.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will coordinate third-party inspections, document outcomes, and ensure compliance with policies and laws while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform basic diagnostic determinations.
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions with buyers, sellers and teams.
  • Ability to analyze inspection reports and maintain audit quality.
  • Proven capability to manage a high-volume Work-In-Progress pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the quality and throughput of vehicle inspections to ensure accuracy and consistency across all reports.
  • Actively manage the WIP (Work-In-Progress) pipeline to ensure vehicles move efficiently through the inspection and arbitration process.
  • Resolve differences between buyers and sellers arising from representations on the auction block, including mechanical, cosmetic, or disclosure issues.
  • Conduct hands‑on vehicle inspections when needed to verify condition and ensure high‑quality standards.
  • Serve as a professional liaison for internal and external customers on arbitration transactions and dispute resolution.
  • Follow arbitration policies, NAAA guidelines, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections as required and maintain accurate records for arbitrated units.
  • Maintain precise records of arbitration outcomes and provide status updates to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies at all times.

Role and Team
  • Reporting to the Inspection Manager or another designated manager, you will be responsible for resolving vehicle representation differences between buyers and sellers.
Responsibilities
  • Inspection Oversight: Oversee the quality and throughput of vehicle inspections to ensure accuracy and consistency across all reports.
  • Pipeline Management: Actively manage the WIP (Work-In-Progress) pipeline to ensure vehicles move efficiently through the inspection and arbitration process.
  • Arbitration Resolution: Resolve differences between buyers and sellers arising from representations made on the auction block, including mechanical, cosmetic, or disclosure issues.
  • Hands-on Quality Control: Conduct hands‑on vehicle inspections when needed to verify vehicle condition and ensure high‑quality standards are maintained.
  • Customer Liaison: Act as a professional point of contact for internal and external customers, providing prompt and courteous service regarding arbitration transactions and dispute resolution.
  • Technical Compliance: Understand and enforce the auction’s arbitration policies, NAAA guidelines, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Third-Party Coordination: Coordinate third-party inspections as required and maintain accurate record-keeping for all arbitrated units.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain precise records of arbitration outcomes and provide status updates on the inspection pipeline to leadership.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all company policies, safety protocols, and state/federal laws are followed at all times.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the designated manager.
Skills and Attributes
  • Technical/Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform basic diagnostic determinations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Exceptional ability to negotiate and resolve disputes between parties in a professional and unbiased manner.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret inspection reports and auction rules.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with buyers, sellers, and internal teams.
  • Organizational Excellence: Proven ability to manage a high-volume WIP pipeline and multitask while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Customer Focus: Professional presence with a commitment to providing a high-quality, customer-focused auction experience.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous automotive auction, inspection, or mechanical experience required.
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements
  • Able to safely drive a variety of makes/models/sizes of vehicles
  • Proficiency with computer systems, mobile inspection tools, and internal inventory databases.
