Job summary

Meta Reality Labs is seeking emerging scientists for the Surreal group at RL Research to work on novel computational and communications systems for contextual AI. The internship spans 12–16 or 24 weeks with multiple start dates yearly and focuses on semantic compression and neural encoding/decoding for future devices.

Applicants should be pursuing a PhD in CS/EE/CV/ML or related fields, with 2+ years Python/C++ ML/CV experience and a proven research track record. Work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• PhD candidate or in-progress in CS/EE/CV/ML
• 2+ years Python or C++ for ML/CV
• Broad understanding of communications theory and systems
• End-to-end pipeline for semantic communication systems
• Proven track record via grants, fellowships, patents, publications
• Experience with software or end-to-end system models (internship/OSS)
• Experience solving complex problems and evaluating tradeoffs
• Team collaboration across functions

Responsibilities

• Create novel systems for semantic compression and communications.
• Advance state-of-the-art for end-to-end compression/communications and ML pipelines.
• Prototype, run experiments, and analyze systems for contextual AI.
• Collaborate with researchers across disciplines in a cross-functional team.
