Job summary

Invited in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an Aquatics Supervisor to support daily operations of the club's aquatic facility. You will oversee lifeguards, monitor safety protocols, and help coordinate swim programs to ensure a welcoming, safe environment for members and guests.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in an aquatic setting, 3 years of competitive swimming or coaching, and current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum experience in an aquatic facility or similar role.
• 3 years of competitive swimming or certified swim coach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the pool and ensure water quality, cleanliness and safety.
• supervise lifeguards and aquatic personnel, promote safety and ensure staff are trained.
• Assist with hiring, training, and staff development; verify time reporting and attend safety drills.
• Coordinate aquatic programs, swim lessons, classes, and special events.
• Open/close procedures, inspect equipment, and communicate with Director/Manager Aquatics.

Job Summary

The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the aquatic facility, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for all users. This role helps in overseeing lifeguards, monitoring safety protocols, and assisting with the coordination of day-to-day aquatic activities. The Supervisor also works closely with management to ensure smooth facility operations and assists in providing excellent service to members and guests.

Reporting Structure

• Reports to the Aquatics Director
• May report to the Fitness Director in the absence of a Aquatics Director

Day to Day

• Communicate with members regularly and promote aquatic club activities.
• Assist in hiring, supervising, and developing aquatic personnel to ensure staff are well-trained thereby creating a safe environment for those who use the facility.
• Help verify the accuracy of time reporting in Kronos.
• Participate in bi-monthly in-service training drills to maintain safety standards.
• Assist in staff training, ensuring all employees are up to date on certifications, including CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding.
• Support the implementation of aquatic programs, such as swim lessons, fitness classes, or special events.
• Assist with coordinating the logistics for swim meets or other aquatic related activities.
• Assist with the timely setup and breakdown of aquatics programs.
• Ensure the pool facility is always in a safe environment.
• Clean and sanitize swimming pool including cleaning the pool and backwash filters, skimming pool surfaces, and checking that chemicals in the pool are at ideal levels.
• Help ensure areas around the pool are clean and clear of equipment and debris.
• Ensure equipment (i.e. railings, ropes, pumps, etc.) is in good working order and report repair/replacement as needed.
• Oversee the daily operations of the pool, ensuring proper water quality, cleanliness, and overall safety of the pool area.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the pool area and conducting inspections of equipment and facilities.
• Monitor pool chemical levels, equipment functionality, and general facility maintenance, reporting any issues to the Director and/or Manager Aquatics.

Additional Duties

• Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Represent the company's management team by supporting and enforcing policies while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
• Promote and follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
• Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role.
• Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
• Support the overall efficiency of the team by collaborating and contributing to the club’s goals.

Required

About You

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in an aquatic facility or similar role.
• A minimum of 3 years of competitive swimming or be a certified swim coach.
• Current certification in CPR, first aid, and AED.
• Lifeguard certified.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
• Previous supervision experience.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent swimming, sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
• Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
• Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
• Talking, hearing, and seeing.

Primary Tools/Equipment

• Tubes, life vests, and AEDs.
• First aid kits and safety signage.
• Pool skimmers, nets, and vacuum systems for cleaning.
• Water testing kits.Chemical dispensing systems.
• Smartphones or tablets.
• Office supplies.

Work Schedule

• Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
• Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
