Job summary

Life Time Inc. is seeking a Lifeguard Instructor to support Aquatics under the Safety Program Manager. The role focuses on instruction, supervision, and safety of all participants, with responsibility for materials and equipment used in lifeguard training.

The incumbent observes and directs class participants, providing feedback and corrections per StarGuard Elite or Lifesaving Society standards, while maintaining pool safety and program quality across activities.

Qualifications

• Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
• Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time.
• Ability to manage different age and size of groups during skill practice sessions.
• Ability to effectively communicate and teach all skills associated with the course.

Responsibilities

• Plans and organizes personal class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by the StarGuard Elite or Lifesaving Society
• Organizes and directs activities of assigned participants in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students
• Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities
• Helps organize and assists in the development of special programs, activities or instruction
• Completes and submits records and documentation of completed classes immediately after the completion of the course

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Safety Program Manager for Aquatics, the lifeguard instructor is responsible for the instruction, leadership, supervision, control, and safety of all class participants. The lifeguard instructor is responsible for the appearance, presentation, and working order of all materials and equipment used for lifeguard instruction. It is the lifeguard instructor's responsibility to observe and direct all class participants, and to provide feedback and appropriate correction according to StarGuard Elite or Lifesaving Society.

Education:

• HS Graduate or Equivalent

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

• Current Lifeguard Certification including Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid
• Current SGE/LSS Lifeguard Instructor Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous instruction experience
