Job summary

The City of Santa Clarita seeks a dedicated aquatic facilities specialist to serve as the public pool expert on the Lifeguard Service Team, overseeing operation, maintenance, water quality, and repairs at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center and other City pools.

Responsibilities include daily water testing, equipment maintenance, coordinating with health inspectors, training lifeguards, and assisting with program events; the role requires flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years of public aquatic facilities recreation experience.
• Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain; safe driving record.
• Certifications within three months: ARC Lifeguard, CPR/AED/First Aid, CPO or AFO, Confined Space.
• Within one year: PADI/NAUI scuba, LA County Pool Technician.

Responsibilities

• Test and treat public pool water daily, monitor pH, chlorine, hardness, alkalinity, and TDS.
• Maintain pool cleanliness and aquatic equipment including pumps, ladders, lifeguard towers, and safety gear.
• Inspect and repair equipment; assist with electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, tile work.
• Coordinate with LA County Health inspectors for compliance and prepare hazardous materials reports.
• Inspect and maintain multiple city pools; travel for inspections and maintenance.
• Train, hire, and supervise part-time lifeguards; teach CPR and lifeguard courses.
