Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead our pool programs, safety, and member service at the Montgomery County location. You will plan programs, supervise staff, ensure safety standards, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members.

Bachelor’s degree required; experience in fitness, recreation management or hospitality, plus strong leadership and a commitment to service. Upon hire, ARC Lifeguard and YMCA swim lesson certifications are pursued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
  • Experience in fitness, retail, recreation management or hospitality industries.
  • Experience supervising and managing preferred.
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns.
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for member service and culture of excellence.
  • Upon hire, pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Understand branch revenue and program goals; plan and execute workload to deliver department, membership and engagement goals.
  • Champion a culture where teams love to work and members love to visit; recognize and reward outstanding performance.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, global engagement and cultural competence in daily operations.
  • Work schedules aligning to guest and business needs (early mornings, evenings, weekends).
  • Ensure swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards.
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings with skill reviews.
  • Supervise staff and pool operations; coordinate breaks and staffing levels; monitor staff performance and member service.
  • Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness meeting community needs.
  • Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area and monitoring for signs of distress.

  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, and weekends)
  • Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review.
  • Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff.Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service
  • Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, that meet the community's needs
