Job summary

YMCA Hamilton seeks an Aquatics Coordinator to support the Aquatics Director in leading the department, ensuring member safety and high-quality programming. You will assist with lifeguards, swim lessons, and pool maintenance while building strong member relationships.

The role requires evenings/weekends, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and the ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor credentials within 6 months. Join a mission-driven team at the Hamilton Y.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have or have ability to obtain within 6 months: Lifeguard Instructor certification and Swim Instructor certification.
• Must be certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen, first aid, and lifeguard.
• Pool operator certification preferred; Ability to obtain upon hire required.
• Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to lift, stoop, bend, and perform necessary physical activities.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing member-focused aquatics programs
• Supervise pool facilities and staff, prioritizing safety
• Build authentic relationships with members and help them connect with each other
• Enforce water safety rules, perform rescues, and provide first aid as needed
• Assist with scheduling and scheduling and coordination of lifeguard training and certifications
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
• Other duties as assigned by the aquatics director
