Job summary

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Keeper II to provide hands-on care for aquatic species across exhibits and conservation programs. You will monitor health, enrich habitats, and operate life-support systems while engaging guests and supporting volunteers.

Minimum requirements include aquatic husbandry experience; AZA facility background preferred. The role offers full-time hours, benefits, and potential for growth within a dynamic educational environment.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree with one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures; write routine reports and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion animal food including meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables.
• Clean and fill water containers and provide food per procedures.
• Administer vitamins, medications, or supplements as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Observe animals for health issues and notify veterinary staff accordingly.
• Assist veterinarians and technicians in treatments and procedures.
• Provide and supervise environmental enrichment for animals per AZA guidelines.
• Engage visitors with educational talks and tours and train volunteers.
