Job summary

Shedd Aquarium is seeking a Supervisory role in Aquarium Sustainability to oversee live food culture programs, larval rearing, and marine exhibits. You will balance hands-on animal care with team leadership, guiding aquarists, and advancing aquaculture goals in collaboration with Conservation and Research teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in marine biology or related field and 3+ years of hands-on animal husbandry, along with proficiency in life support systems and regulatory standards for

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in animal husbandry and aquaculture.
• Familiarity with life support systems, water quality management, and veterinary protocols.
• Ability to lead and train a team, ensuring best practices in animal care.
• Experience with regulatory standards for animal care and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on animal husbandry, feedings, health checks, and behavioral observations.
• Supervise aquarists, conduct weekly 1:1 check-ins, and support staff development.
• Maintain logs in animal management software and coordinate with other teams.
• Support SCUBA diving program activities and participate in training demonstrations.
