Job summary

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery in Warm Springs, Oregon, is seeking a Biological Science Technician (GS-0404-6/7).

The employee will plan and conduct data collection on hatchery populations to support evaluation of fish health and propagation methods. Duties include operating aquaculture equipment, collecting samples, entering data into automated databases, assisting hatchery staff with daily care, and coordinating with five other hatcheries to implement

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• Background investigation and favorable adjudication required.
• On-call, nights, weekends may be required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plans and carries out hatchery data collection to study health and propagation methods.
• Operates aquaculture equipment (gates, pumps, valves, filters, alarms) and maintains hatchery systems.
• Collects and records data, prepares samples for storage and transport, and uses automated databases for analysis.
• Works with hatchery crew to provide daily fish care and supports maintenance of hatchery facilities.
