Job summary

Cuesta College is seeking Aqua Fitness Instructors for Tuesday/Thursday classes. You will lead safe aquatic fitness sessions, adapt exercises to diverse abilities, and promote participant wellness.

Roles are program-based with pay based on enrollment and potential 50/50 net income sharing up to $125 per hour for instructional time. Applicants must hold current aquatic fitness certification and CPR/First Aid/AED within 60 days of hire, with priority given to Cuesta College students.

Qualifications

• Diversity, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds understood.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• Knowledge of safe exercise techniques, injury prevention, and risk management.
• Current Aquatic Fitness Instructor certification within 60 days of hire.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct water-based fitness classes (water aerobics, aqua yoga, aquatic formats).
• Design and implement fitness programs addressing diverse participant needs and goals.
• Assess participant fitness levels and provide safe exercise modifications.
• Demonstrate techniques with feedback and encouragement.
• Maintain a safe aquatic environment and enforce safety policies.
• Inspect aquatic equipment and ensure proper storage after use.
• Foster a welcoming, energetic class atmosphere that promotes engagement.
