Job summary

St. Bernards seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse specializing as an Obstetrical Nurse Practitioner to provide direct patient care on the obstetrical floor. You will work in collaboration with physicians to assess health status, formulate differential diagnoses, and develop comprehensive plans of care.

The role includes prenatal care, pharmacotherapy management, and ordering/tests interpretation. The APN must demonstrate strong assessment, treatment, and teaching skills and exercise independent

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing required.
• Licensed by Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
• Certification by national certifying body with prescriptive privileges.
• Advanced training as an Obstetrical Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare for obstetrical floor patients in collaboration with physicians.
• Perform assessment, triage, and differential diagnoses for unit patients.
• Develop and carry out care plans with other team members; conduct histories and physicals.
• Manage pharmacotherapy and order/interpret tests; provide prenatal care as needed.
• Demonstrate independent judgment in clinical decision-making.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Education Required
  • A Master’s degree in nursing is required. Licensed by Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification by national certifying body with prescriptive privileges. Advanced training as an Obstetrical Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Experience
  • Advanced training as an Obstetrical Nurse Practitioner and/or RN experience in an Obstetrical setting required in lieu of a non-obstetrical specialty.
• Physical

  • Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells and temperatures by touch. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit and use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift, pull, or push >150 lbs. May be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. Working knowledge of computer systems.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide healthcare for patients on the obstetrical floor. Performs professional duties in collaboration with Physicians as follows: Assessment triage of health status of unit patients; formulates an appropriate differential diagnosis; develops and carries out a plan of care in collaboration with other disciplinary team members. Care will also include but not limited to, conducting history and physicals, initial and ongoing assessments, management of pharmacotherapy, ordering and interpretation of tests. Provide prenatal care to those needing service. The advanced practice nurse must demonstrate effective assessment, treatment, and teaching/learning skills. The position is required to utilize independent judgment.
