Job summary

American Oncology Network, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant to support physicians in patient care, teaching, and clinical trials coordination at our North Bethesda facility. The role requires an NP/PA license in the appropriate state, ANCC/ONS certification, and BLS.

You will work in a fast-paced oncology setting with regular rounds and on-call coverage. Experience in oncology is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program.
  • APRN or PA license in appropriate state.
  • Current certification from ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P).
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician in patient care and teaching activities.
  • Assess physical and psychosocial status via history, exam and tests.
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of evaluation.
  • Document care and draft follow-up letters and notes.
  • Provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds as needed.
  • Promote cancer treatment externally and market services when appropriate.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient data.
  • Assist in training new staff and support multi-site operations.

Location:The Center for Cancer & Blood DisordersPay Range:$80,000.00 - $170,000.00Position SummaryAssists physician in the care and teaching of patients.Key Performance AreasAssess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.Write prescriptions for: medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and care post-discharge in accordance with written practice protocols.Based on findings, determine eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials.Interpret and evaluates findings of studies / tests.Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.Administer therapeutic measures / obtains specimens as prescribed.Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response and plan.Dictate or writes patient history, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner.Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patients’ care.Conduct or participate in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for assigned patients to ensure patients are receiving appropriate and quality care.Provide on-call coverage and performs hospital rounds as needed.Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation.Document and reports care in an accurate, timely manner using appropriate forms and records.Demonstrate a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing health care environment.Provide on-call coverage and performs hospital rounds as needed. Second language is an asset but not required.
