Job summary

Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. in Gainesville, FL seeks a licensed Psychiatric APRN to deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and MAT services for OUD/AUD within a multidisciplinary team.

You will work with physicians, therapists, nurses, and case managers to create person-centered, culturally responsive care plans, utilize telehealth when appropriate, maintain EMR documentation, and participate in continuous education to meet Florida APRN standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) required.
  • Experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including Buprenorphine, Methadone, and Vivitrol (Naltrexone) preferred.
  • Experience working with substance use disorders, behavioral health, or community-based treatment settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric, medical, and substance use evaluations to assess treatment needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans supporting recovery and wellness goals.
  • Prescribe, administer, and manage psychiatric and MAT medications using evidence-based practices.
  • Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up to promote adherence and outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment options, recovery strategies, and relapse prevention.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, ancillary services, and referrals as needed.
  • Utilize telehealth to provide accessible care when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other professionals for coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation and participate in protocol development per Florida APRN regulations.
  • Support infection prevention, quality improvement, and patient safety standards.
  • Build relationships with community partners to enhance care and recovery support.
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain clinical excellence and meet departmental standards.

About the Role

As a Psychiatric Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), you will play a vital role in helping individuals navigate mental health and substance use challenges through compassionate, evidence-based care.

In this impactful position, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning for individuals experiencing behavioral health conditions and those participating in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will empower individuals on their recovery journey while delivering person-centered, culturally responsive care that promotes hope, healing, and long-term wellness.

What You Will Do:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric, medical, and substance use disorder evaluations to assess treatment needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans that support recovery and wellness goals
  • Prescribe, administer, and manage psychiatric and MAT medications utilizing evidence-based practices
  • Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care to promote treatment adherence and positive outcomes
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, recovery strategies, and relapse prevention
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, ancillary services, and specialty referrals as clinically indicated
  • Utilize telehealth technologies to provide accessible care when appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of clinical protocols in accordance with Florida APRN regulations
  • Support infection prevention, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety standards
  • Build relationships with community partners and resources to enhance patient care and recovery support
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain clinical excellence
  • Meet departmental productivity and documentation standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives
What We're Looking For
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution required
  • Current Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) required
  • Experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including prescribing and managing Buprenorphine, Methadone, and Vivitrol (Naltrexone), preferred
  • Experience working with substance use disorders, behavioral health, or community-based treatment settings preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and professional regulations governing APRN practice
  • Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and telehealth technologies preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to mental health and substance use disorder treatment
  • Understanding of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) principles and recovery-oriented care
  • Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard patient rights at all times
  • Knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices
