EnergyUnited in Lexington, NC seeks an Apprentice to Journeyman Lineman to join our team. You will learn construction, operation, and maintenance of a reliable electric system while emphasizing safety and teamwork.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent; Lineman Academy preferred; NC CDL Class A; clean driving record; ability to lift 100+ pounds; and reside within 25 miles of Lexington. Competitive benefits and salary are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate from a Lineman Academy is preferred.
  • Possess a North Carolina Commercial Driver's License, Class A.
  • Clean driving record and ability to safely drive a company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and move weights in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Must live within 25 miles of the Lexington, NC office.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations adopted by the cooperative.
  • Learn and demonstrate specialized technical skills in the construction, operation and maintenance of a reliable electric system.
  • Make recommendations for changes needed to improve operations in your assigned area as it relates to the position.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with your team members in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Learn to perform responsibilities in emergency and on-call work using knowledge of voltage regulation and protection devices.
  • Learn to apply theory to knowledge in sizing transformers and understand transmission and distribution feeds.

In This Role You Will

  • Lear to perform responsibilities in emergency and on-call work using your knowledge of voltage regulation, fault current, and coordination of line protection devices.
  • Learn to apply theory to knowledge in the sizing of single-phase transformers.
  • Become familiar with the feeds of all transmission and distribution lines and the operation of all substations and switching stations.
  • Learn to use and apply all forms, records, and reports required.
  • Work with a positive attitude to reflect the cooperative core values.
  • Exhibit your ability to communicate effectively with our members in times of both routine service and outage events.
To Be Considered For The Position, You Should
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from a Lineman Academy preferred.
  • Possess a North Carolina Commercial Driver's License, Class A.
  • Have a clean driving record and be able to safely drive a company vehicle.
  • Have the ability to lift and move weights in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Will be expected to pull on-call duty after becoming familiar with the region and must be available for emergency work during all weather conditions.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must live - or be willing to relocate - within a twenty five (25) mile radius of the Lexington, NC office.
