Job summary

Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., the premier Cat dealer in the region, is seeking an Apprentice Technician I. You will support service professionals, learn to service machines, and assist with repairs in a fast-paced shop and field environment.

The program includes 12 weeks of instructor-led training, 200 hours of computer-based training, and travel to diverse training locations. A valid driver’s license and reliable attendance are required.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, criminal record check.
• Ability to operate equipment safely from shop to shop and around property.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Enrolled in or graduate of technical school or military program acceptable to the company.
• Excellent attendance and strong work ethic expected.

Responsibilities

Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., your local Caterpillar dealership, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our growing team of established and successful Service professionals.

Position Summary:

• Maintain a clean, professional personal appearance at all times, meeting all Company standards for professionalism.
• Keep the Manager continually apprised to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary.

• Accepts responsibility for mistakes or problems. Maintains "ownership" of assigned tasks.

• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.

• Assist Technician with machine repairs.
• Travel to training sessions at various training locations
• 12 weeks of instructor lead training.
• Complete 200 hours of Computer based training.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Must be honest, reliable, and dependable, and display a positive attitude.
• Must be able to work well under occasional pressure or within work standards and deadlines.
• Must be able to work independently and/or with others in a team environment.
• Able to work standard five-day schedule.
• Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles, including a current, valid driver's license issued by the resident State, and maintain current motor vehicle liability insurance.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications:

• Moderate physical activity including the ability to operate the steam jenny and climbing onto and around equipment
• Pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, criminal record check
• Ability to operate equipment safely from shop to shop and around property
• As an Apprentice you are required to work in an industrial environment which includes exposure to significant environmental conditions. Physical requirements include:
• Overall stamina
• Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing
• Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, listening, and speaking
• Must have good motor coordination skills
• Coordination of eyes, hands, and feet
• Verbal intelligence, and numerical intelligence
• The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold
• Injury exposures, and atmospheric exposures
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Additional applicant requirements or work experience

• Demonstrated a level of maturity and a strong work ethic.
• Excellent attendance final academic year.
• Provide a transcript for final academic year.
• Illustrate a strong mechanical ability.
• CTC / Technical School instructor reference.

Currently enrolled in a high school CTC or graduate, graduate of a technical school, military school, or relevant working experience acceptable to the company.
