Job summary

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Apprentice Press Technician to join the Stamping team at our Butler County, PA facility. This full-time apprenticeship program trains you toward journeyman status over roughly three years with on-site classes and hands-on learning.

You will learn to set up and operate stamping presses, install dies, monitor speeds, and maintain quality records while adhering to safety and quality standards in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational-technical training preferred.
• Strong technical, mechanical, and math abilities.
• Willingness to learn and apply knowledge on the job.
• Able to attend on-site apprenticeship classes.

Responsibilities

• Learn the apprenticeship standards for Press Technology and work toward state certified journeyman papers (typically 3 years).
• Learn to install, align, and lock dies into rams or beds of machines.
• Set up, operate and monitor progressive stamping die presses to produce quality metal parts.
• Test and adjust machine feeds and speeds; record operational, quality and shipping documents.
• Clean and lubricate machines.
• Attend required on-site apprenticeship classes.
• Follow all safety and quality programs and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Learn, according to applicable apprenticeship standards for Press Technology, the knowledge and skills necessary to receive state certified journeyman’s papers upon completion of the program (typically 3 years)
• Learn to install, align, and lock dies into rams or beds of machines
• Set-up, operate and monitor progressive stamping die presses that punch, crimp, bend, etc.. to make quality metal parts
• Test and adjust machine feeds and speeds. Record operational, quality, and shipping documentation
• Clean and lubricate machines
• Regular attendance for on-site apprenticeship classes
• Follow all safety and quality programs and procedures

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; some vocational-technical training preferred
• High level of technical, mechanical and math ability
• Desire to learn and ability to apply knowledge to on-the-job tasks
• Able to regularly attend required, on-site apprenticeship classes
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Service attitude, commitment to safety and quality
• Must be able to work rotating shifts (day, afternoon and midnight)
• Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and stand for 8 -9.5 hours per shift
