Job summary

New Jersey State League of Municipalities seeks a Plumbers Apprentice (Helper) for Parsippany-Troy-Hills Township. The role entails assisting with plumbing work in the Sewer Utility, with a Monday–Friday 7:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M. schedule and potential emergency callouts. Salary ranges from $27,550 to $77,500 annually.

Candidates must be able to operate basic tools, lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, and hold a valid NJ Driver License. A plumber’s license is not required but encouraged.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard plumbing tools, materials and safety practices.
• Ability to perform installations, repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and climbing ladders.
• Must possess a current valid NJ Driver License.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English.
• Familiarity with basic computer tasks for emails, work orders and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Township Plumber with installations, repairs and maintenance of gas, water and waste disposal pipes and facilities.
• Inspect, test, repair and install fixtures as needed.
• Remove stoppages from piping, toilets, sinks and other devices.
• Read and interpret simple work orders and communicate findings.
• Use tools and equipment to complete assigned tasks safely.
• Support on-call emergencies and respond as required.
