Job summary

Caney Fork Electric Cooperative seeks two Apprentice Lineman/Lineman in McMinnville, TN to install, repair, and maintain power systems. You will work with high-voltage lines, transformers, and related equipment, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

The roles involve ongoing training, on-call duties, and living within 15 miles of the CFEC office. A CDL-A and pole climbing certification are preferred or obtainable within six months of hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1–3 years related experience preferred.
  • CDL Class A and pole climbing certification preferred or obtainable within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe working environment by following policies and regulations.
  • Construct, operate, and maintain overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Troubleshoot and restore electric service during outages and meter issues.
  • Perform rescue operations including pole-top and bucket work; administer first aid.
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and equipment and report needs.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to members and address concerns.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for outages and after-hours duties.

Job description

Apprentice Lineman/Lineman (2 Positions Available)


Location: McMinnville, TN | Type: Full-time | FLSA: Non-exempt


We are currently seeking two Linemen to join our team in McMinnville, TN. Both positions require the employee to reside within the McMinnville on-call service area.


As an Apprentice Lineman/Lineman, you will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical power systems. Your responsibilities will include working with high-voltage power lines, transformers, and related equipment to ensure the reliable distribution of electricity to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Maintain a safe working environment by following company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Construct, operate, and maintain overhead and underground distribution lines, including proper use and care of tools, trucks, and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and restore electric service by addressing outages, transformer and meter issues, and performing voltage checks.

  • Perform rescue operations when needed, including pole-top, bucket, CPR, and administering first aid.

  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and promptly reporting service needs.

  • Provide courteous and professional service to members by addressing needs, concerns, or complaints directly.

  • Participate in ongoing training and rotational on-call schedules for outages and after-hours duties, as well as other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Related experience of 1-3 years preferred.

  • Commercial Tennessee Driver's License Class "A" and pole climbing certification preferred, or ability to obtain both within six (6) months of employment.

  • Must reside within a 15-mile commuting distance of the assigned on-call CFEC office.
