AlphaGraphics US 219 in Cary, NC is seeking a motivated Apprentice Large Format Print Operator to join our small, fast-paced team. You will learn to set up, operate, and maintain industrial printers that produce banners, signage, and graphics.

This full-time role offers hands-on training, exposure to RIP software and design tools, and opportunities to grow in management, sales, operations, print, signs, design, and marketing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to understand measurements and perform basic math/unit conversions.
• Comfortable standing for long periods and physically lifting up to 60 lbs.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and operating roll-to-roll and flatbed large format printers.
• Learn to use RIP software and basic design tools to prepare customer files.
• Load and unload heavy substrates and change ink systems safely.
• Inspect prints for color accuracy and quality before delivery.
• Perform trimming, mounting, laminating, and grommeting under supervision.
• Assist with routine maintenance and printer installations as needed.
• Support with handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description For Apprentice Large Format Print Operator

We are actively seeking an Apprentice Large Format Print Operator to join us full-time. Overview

An Apprentice Large Format Print Operator assists in setting up, maintaining, and running industrial-grade printers to produce banners, signage, and other graphics.

Primary Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Assist in setting up and operating roll-to-roll and flatbed large format printers.
• File Preparation: Learn to use RIP software and basic design tools (Adobe Illustrator/InDesign) to format, resize, and prepare customer files for printing.
• Material Handling: Load and unload heavy substrates (vinyl, canvas, laminate) and change out ink systems safely.
• Quality Control: Inspect printed items for color accuracy, banding, or imperfections prior to final delivery.
• Finishing Tasks: Perform trimming, mounting, laminating, and grommeting on finished products under supervision.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the performance of daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance, including cleaning printheads and maintaining machine components.
• Installs: Assist with the installation of large format graphics both indoors and outdoors.
• Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
