Job summary

Generator Supercenter, Inc. is seeking an apprentice Electrician to assist and learn all electrical operations and ensure quality, safety, and code compliance of our generator installations at the Wheeling, IL location.

As a Wireman or Apprentice Electrician, you will assist supervising electricians on ATS and generator installations, read blueprints, troubleshoot systems, and support load testing while promoting job-site safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of professional electrical experience (generator installation experience is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems; reading wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Review sold job folders and confirm electrical scope aligns with code and Generator Supercenter standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and trace wiring issues during installation and service.
• Support load testing of generator systems and ensure operational compliance.
• Assist in project preparation, including trenching, conduit routing, and setting mechanical components.
• Perform AC/DC wiring and read electrical diagrams and blueprints with precision.
• Install electrical equipment and components including panels, ATS units, wiring, conduit, and controls.
• Utilize electrical testing and measurement tools proficiently.
• Promote job site safety, cleanliness, and team collaboration.
• Support and train electrical technicians, as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience working with conduit, electrical panels, transfer switches, and backup power systems
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various conditions
• Safety-minded and detail-oriented with a commitment to code compliance
