Job description

The Apprentice Electrician participates in the company’s five-year, Arizona-state-certified in-house apprenticeship program. Apprentices receive supervised, progressive on-the-job training combined with classroom instruction approved by the Arizona Department of Economic Security Apprenticeship Office. Under supervision, Apprentices learn electrical installation, safety, and trade fundamentals in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Arizona Administrative Code R20-5-601 through R20-5-621.

Key Responsibilities:

All Years

  • Accurately record daily time in QBO Time and submit per company policy.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, and ADOSH safety procedures; use required PPE.
  • Maintain organized work areas, tools, and materials; participate in daily cleanup.
  • Document progress and assigned tasks in Procore when directed.
  • Complete required classroom modules, assessments, and OJT hours each year.
  • Participate actively in pre-task and toolbox meetings.

Year 1

  • Assist with material handling, wire pulls, conduit prep, and site readiness.
  • Learn safe tool use and basic electrical terminology.

Year 2

  • Install basic branch circuits, lighting, and devices under supervision.
  • Begin reading simple blueprints and learning layout procedures.

Year 3

  • Perform feeder and conduit installations with limited supervision.
  • Support field QA/QC and as-built documentation.

Year 4

  • Execute complex installations (panels, motors, controls) under Journeyman oversight.
  • Help lead pre-task planning and assist in mentoring junior Apprentices.

Year 5

  • Work with minimal supervision; perform full installations meeting NEC standards.
  • Demonstrate readiness for Journeyman licensing through Arizona ROC trade exam, NASCLA Accredited Electrical Exam or equivalent

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in or completion of a state-registered 5-year electrical apprenticeship program.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and safe work habits.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in construction environments.
  • OSHA10

Preferred Systems & Tools:

  • Familiarity with Procore (daily documentation) and QBO Time (timekeeping).
  • Exposure to Service Fusion is a plus.
  • Understanding of torque and testing tool calibration best practices per NECA 1-2015.

Working Conditions:

Field-based construction sites, subject to Arizona heat, dust, and typical construction hazards. Requires compliance with all PPE and safety requirements.
