Job summary

TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You will perform diagnostic tests, develop repair plans, and communicate them to the Service Advisor, ensuring high-quality service in a safe environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, trade/tech schooling or relevant experience, and a willingness to expand knowledge through training. Flexible hours including nights and weekends are expected.

• Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, test, and troubleshoot heavy-duty trucks and trailers; interpret results and plan repairs.
• Repair malfunctioning parts and related electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Communicate repair plan to Service Advisor and customer.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and comply with safety standards.
• Recommend TA services during inspection reviews.
• Ensure safety of customers and employees at all times.

Job description

We are now looking for a Diesel Technician to join our team! As a Diesel Mechanic, you will provide accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty trucks and trailers in a reasonable and responsible manner within company and industry standards.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Work in a fun, trusting environment focused on providing great service where the expectations of the customer are exceeded
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results; develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment; complete repairs safely, effectively and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Recommend other TA services to the customer as part of the inspection review process
• Maintain the safety of both our customers and employees

Qualifications

• A dedicated individual who works well with others and is excited to be part of our team!
• High School Diploma or GED; Graduate of acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge via education and training programs
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and some holidays in interior and exterior conditions
• Meet the requirements for the needed physical tasks with or without accommodation

Pay Range

$17.00 - 19.00 per hour
