Caraluzzi's Markets is seeking motivated individuals to join our Apprentice Butcher Program in Connecticut. This is a long-term hands-on training path to develop into a professional meat cutter. You will learn cutting techniques, handling equipment, and customer service within a safety-conscious environment.

Apprentice Butcher / Meat Cutter

Position Overview

Caraluzzi's Markets is seeking motivated, hardworking, and career-minded individuals to join our Apprentice Butcher Program. This is an opportunity to start a career and learn a skilled trade through hands-on training and development. The Apprentice Butcher Program is a long-term commitment designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to develop into a professional meat cutter.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and develop proper meat cutting and preparation techniques through hands-on training.


• Assist with cutting, trimming, wrapping, packaging, and merchandising a variety of meat products.


• Learn proper equipment operation, handling, and maintenance.


• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.


• Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to customers.


• Learn and follow Caraluzzi's standards for product quality, presentation, and freshness.


• Work closely with experienced meat cutters and department leadership throughout the training program.


• Progress through the training program by developing the skills and knowledge necessary for advancement within the Meat Department.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in developing a career in the meat-cutting trade.


• Reliable, hardworking, and motivated with a strong work ethic.


• Willingness to learn and develop new skills through hands-on training.


• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.


• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.


• Previous grocery, food service, meat department, or related experience is helpful but not required.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and product quality.


• Must be available to work weekends, and flexible hours as needed.


• Must be 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.


• Ability to work in a multi-temperature environment, including refrigerated areas.
