Concentric Power Services seeks an Technician, Apprentice to coordinate and perform routine maintenance on industrial batteries, chargers, and battery handling equipment. The role reports to a Service Manager or Lead Technician and involves no direct reports.

Ideal candidates will have a High School or GED, relevant technical training, and the ability to travel to sites with some overnight stays. DOT regulations and safety are emphasized in this position.

Job Summary

The Technician, Apprentice is responsible for coordinating and performing routine planned maintenance services and diagnosing and repairing products, including industrial batteries, chargers, and battery handling equipment. This position typically reports to a Service Manager or Lead Technician and has no direct reports.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Execute planned maintenance agreements, including battery inspections, battery watering, battery washing, recording of cell voltages and specific gravities, charger inspections, calibrations, and adjustments.
• Coordinate problem resolution with Technical Support, Customer Service, Sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
• Travel to other branches or sites, as required, to assist with product installation, removal or repairs (some overnight travel will be required).
• Comply with company policies and procedures, including warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT and Hazmat.
• Follow all safety regulations, including site‑specific safety regulations established by customers.
• Build strong relationships with customers.
• Take ownership of all company assets, including but not limited to vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Complete all service orders, PM worksheets, timecards, expense reports, and any documentation as required, in an accurate and timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Key Performance Measurements

• A score card that reflects performance in areas such as safety, efficiency, work order completion, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution.
• Exercises high degree of time‑management skill, resulting in greater than 90% time billable to customers.
• Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness & ability to learn new skills and information.
• Other key metrics prescribed by Concentric Motive Power leadership, resulting in positive customer and company impact.

Requirements

• High School or GED Diploma required.
• Certification from a technical school focused on electrical, mechanical repair or battery maintenance preferred.
• Associate degree from an approved two‑year college or university, preferred or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
• May be required to pass additional requirements under the Department of Transportation (DOT).
• Working knowledge of basic AC and DC electrical/electronic theory.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervision.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across offices.
• Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments toward the greater good of the organization.
• Ability to adapt to a fast‑changing environment.
• Possess a valid driver’s license; CDL a plus but not required.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime.
• Travel daily, some overnight travel required.

Concentric Technicians

May need to travel out of state to perform work. The Department of Transportation has several requirements for drivers of commercial motor vehicles weighing less than 26,001 pounds who are driving across state lines, including:

• Drivers must be at least 18 years old to drive intrastate and 21 years old to drive interstate.
• Drivers must have a valid driver’s license at all times.
• Drivers must have a valid DOT medical card or the ability to obtain one per DOT/FMCA guidelines during the hiring process and must continue to maintain active status throughout employment.
• Drivers must follow the DOT’s HOS regulations.
• Drivers must be able to obtain a CDL to drive commercial motor vehicles or combination vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs.
