Job summary

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is seeking an aspiring bartender to support the beverage operation, assist bartenders, and help with bar organization. You’ll engage guests with friendly service and help with basic menu descriptions.

The role emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and teamwork, with pre- and post-shift duties, stocking, and basic non-alcoholic drinks. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
• High school or equivalent education.
• Food Service Handler Card and TABC certification that is currently valid for at least 6 months.
• The skills and abilities necessary for effective performance within this position are typically acquired through five (5) years bartending or similar experience or through progressive promotion and training within the Beverage department.
• Familiarity with superior customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Support bartenders as directed with pre-shift prep, post-shift close, and in-shift maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment including stocking of supplies, washing and polishing glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitizing tables, etc.
• Stock the bar as necessary in accordance with company guidelines regarding liquor requisition
• Explain basic details of food dishes and beverages at time of delivery to guests
• Prepare basic non-alcoholic beverages such as water, coffee, tea, etc.
• Be an expert in the organization of the bar and where things are in the building

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties) Including but not limited to:

• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment including stocking of supplies, washing and polishing glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitizing tables, etc.

• Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per hotel standards
• Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, behavior.
• Food Handler and TABC card is required

MUST HAVE'S

• Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge
• Learn and sell extensive food menu and beverage list
• Must enjoy being around and working with people
• Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
• Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
• Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, and behavior

THE WORKING CONDITIONS

• Lift and carry 50 lbs, carry and balance plates, carry kegs, wine and beer cases as necessary
• Stand for periods of 8-10 hours
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
• Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
• Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, pet dander, light and sound
• Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken
• This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather Proper clothing is provided
