A local government agency in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Real Property Appraiser. The role involves valuing real property, conducting market analyses, and interacting with citizens and contractors. The primary responsibility of the Real Property Appraiser is to ensure that all Wake County real property is valued in compliance with the North Carolina General Statutes and the Wake County Schedule of Values. This is accomplished through accurately measuring and listing of new construction and appropriate analysis of the real estate market during County-wide real property reappraisals. The Real Property Appraiser is expected to work independently with frequent interaction with citizens, building contractors, professional consultants, and representatives from other departments of Wake County and its fourteen municipalities.
Key Responsibilities of a Real Property Appraiser:
The Department of Tax Administration serves the citizens of Wake County by appraising, assessing and listing all real estate and personal property within the county, its fourteen municipalities and related service districts. The Department is responsible for the collection of all current and delinquent taxes on such property excluding registered motor vehicles. Consistently leading the state in property tax collection, Department of Tax Administration staff have been recognized over the years for leadership and computer system innovation. The Department also oversees the billing and collection of local gross receipts taxes including: Prepared Food & Beverage Tax, Hotel/Motel Occupancy Tax, Heavy Equipment Gross Receipts Tax, Rental Vehicle Tax as well as Special Assessments and various licensing. It is the goal of Wake County Department of Tax Administration to maintain the highest possible level of customer satisfaction while delivering quality work including accurate valuations along with the listing of all taxable and exempt property within the jurisdiction. To accomplish its goal, the Department works as efficiently as possible to increase productivity and control costs.
