Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Applied Scientist in California to advance Generative AI techniques and deliver production-ready systems at scale. You will own end-to-end product direction, research and experimentation, applying ML to vision, multimedia understanding, and multimodal GenAI workflows.

The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, hands-on model development, and delivering impactful experiences for Prime Video users worldwide.

Qualifications

3+ years of building models for business application experience.
PhD, or Master's degree in CS, CE, ML or related field.
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, HPC.

Responsibilities

Research and develop generative models for controllable synthesis across images, video, vector graphics, and multimedia.
Innovate in diffusion and flow-based methods to improve efficiency, controllability, and scalability.
Advance visual grounding, depth and 3D estimation, segmentation, and matting for integration into pre-visualization, compositing, VFX, and post-production pipelines.
Design multimodal GenAI workflows including visual-language model tooling, structured prompt orchestration, agentic pipelines.

Key job responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist, you will have end-to-end ownership of the product, related research and experimentation. In addition, you will be applying advanced machine learning techniques in Computer Vision, Multimedia Understanding and Generative AI.

Responsibilities

Research and develop generative models for controllable synthesis across images, video, vector graphics, and multimedia

Innovate in advanced diffusion and flow‑based methods (e.g., inverse flow matching, parameter efficient training, guided sampling, test‑time adaptation) to improve efficiency, controllability, and scalability

Advance visual grounding, depth and 3D estimation, segmentation, and matting for integration into pre‑visualization, compositing, VFX, and post‑production pipelines

Design multimodal GenAI workflows including visual‑language model tooling, structured prompt orchestration, agentic pipelines

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of building models for business application experience

PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience

Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high‑performance computing

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using Unix/Linux

Experience in professional software development

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
