Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in New York seeks an Applied Scientist III to design, develop and deploy data‑driven ML and NL models that drive business value across teams.

You will apply Bayesian and deep learning techniques, run controlled experiments in production, identify opportunities for research, and mentor junior engineers and scientists. Collaborate with software and product partners to translate analytics into scalable solutions and share methodologies for reuse across teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS/ML/Engineering or related field with 2 years of research or work experience, or Bachelor’s with 5 years of research or work experience.
• One year of experience programming in Java, C++, Python or equivalent, and building ML models for moderately complex projects.
• Telecommuting may be permitted.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, evaluate, deploy and update data-driven ML/NL models and analytical solutions.

Responsibilities

Participate in the design, development, evaluation, deployment and updating of data‑driven models and analytical solutions for machine learning (ML) and/or natural language (NL) applications. Develop and/or apply statistical modeling techniques (e.g. Bayesian models and deep neural networks), optimization methods, and other ML techniques to different applications in business and engineering. Routinely build and deploy ML models on available data, run and analyze experiments in a production environment, identify new opportunities for research to meet business goals, research and implement novel ML and statistical approaches to add value to the business, and mentor junior engineers and scientists.

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field, plus two years of research or work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree plus five years of research or work experience.
• One year of experience programming in Java, C++, Python or equivalent, and conducting the analysis and development of supervised and unsupervised machine learning models for moderately complex projects.
• Telecommuting may be permitted.
