Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist to join the WWOS Tech team. You will own business challenges by building ML models to detect theft and fraud across global supply chains and help shape product strategies.

The role requires strong research background and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments. Ideal candidates have a PhD or MS with CS/CE/ML focus, experience publishing, and programming skills in Java/C++/Python.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building models for business applications.
• PhD or Master's with CS/CE/ML related field.
• Experience with patents or publications in top-tier venues.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python.
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own KPIs for theft/fraud management and efficiencies.
• Detect and automate theft/fraud MOs.
• Detect organized crime rings and bad actor clusters.
• End-to-end evaluation of defects, gaps, and scaling challenges.
• Contribute to fraud management and product development strategies.
• Present learnings and vision to stakeholders and leadership.
• Integrate ML detection models into software applications.
