Job summary

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Applied Scientist to advance automated reasoning for AWS services and customer applications. You will work on formal methods, neurosymbolic approaches, and verification across cloud infrastructure, security, and AI safety domains.

The role involves designing algorithms, developing scalable decision procedures, and applying ML/AI to improve reasoning and code verification at Amazon scale. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is expected.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research experience required.
• Experience in mathematical logic, formal verification, SAT/SMT, theorem proving, model checking, or program analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement algorithms and formal methods for automated reasoning and verification of computing systems.
• Solve complex problems with long-term impact and lead design and delivery of solutions.
• Develop decision procedures and search strategies to improve scalability and accuracy of verification tools.
• Apply generative AI and machine learning to enhance automated reasoning capabilities.
• Mentor scientists and engineers on formal methods and neurosymbolic techniques.
