Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Science Manager for Sponsored Products and Brands. You will lead a team of scientists to develop Gen AI solutions, build scalable recommender systems, and mentor engineers and researchers to deliver high-impact advertising innovations at Amazon scale.

You will work on latest Gen AI/ML techniques, collaborate across teams, and drive research-to-production improvements that enhance advertiser effectiveness and shopper experiences.

• Hire and develop a team of high performing applied scientists that is responsible for developing AI solutions for Sponsored Brands advertiser and shopper experiences.
• You should be technically solid, able to roll up your sleeves easily, and have strong curiosity and appetite to invent Gen AI solutions that solve customer problems.
• Build recommendation systems that leverage generative models to develop and improve campaigns.
• Technically lead and mentor the scientists on the team.
• Research and apply the latest Gen AI and ML techniques and best practices.
• Use analytical techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems.
• Establish structures that enable your team to solve complex problems and deliver results.

About the team We are on a mission to make Amazon the best in class destination for shoppers to discover, engage, and purchase relevant products, from brands that are relevant to them. In this role, you will design and implement Gen AI solutions that help millions of advertisers create more effective ad campaigns with intelligent recommendations, while improving the overall experience at Amazon's global scale.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience
• 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
• 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
• Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Bachelor's degree or above in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or experience in defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
• Deep curiosity, and basic knowledge on Gen AI
• Deep curiosity, and basic knowledge on Gen AI

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Previous work on agents or LLMs
