Job summary

Abbott Park, IL, is seeking a Scientist Applied Research to conduct research, correlate and verify ideas through experimentation, and share information within a collaborative team.

The role supports diagnostic solutions used in hospitals and clinics worldwide, helping inform patient care decisions across cardiovascular, infectious diseases, and oncology areas. A BS in sciences with 2–3 years (or MS with 0–2) is required, along with strong data interpretation and experimental design skills.

Qualifications

• B.S in biological or physical sciences, or mathematics with 2–3 yrs. or M.S. with 0 to 2 years’ experience.
• Awareness of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
• Working knowledge of experimental approaches/protocols and scientific methods such as designing experiments and interpreting data.
• Basic computer skills - able to learn new computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain compliance with the company Quality System and established procedures.
• Perform assigned laboratory or technical tasks using established methods and scientific principles.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instruments and equipment.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and recommend next steps.
• Use computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs and internal systems, to document and track work.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project summaries.
• Identify, investigate, and assist in resolving technical issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Present project updates and findings to team members and cross-functional stakeholders, as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and share knowledge to support team success.
• Communicate information clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
• Contribute ideas for process improvements and problem solving.
