Job summary

Amazon's AWS Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena seeks an Applied Scientist to join the Device Team. The role focuses on physical metrology, cryogenics, and measurement techniques for quantum processors, leveraging a strong physics background and programming skills.

Responsibilities include developing devices, refining metrology methods, and collaborating across physics and engineering disciplines to advance quantum hardware performance.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree and 4+ years of science/engineering or related field experience.
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier conferences or journals.
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related language.
• Broad experience in experimental physics with the ability to learn new topics.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Part of the PME subgroup within the Device team.
• Work with superconducting films, resonators, junctions, and qubits.
• Develop devices, understand physical principles, identify performance limitations, and enhance capabilities.
• Develop and refine physical metrology methods and devise new ones.
• Design, fabricate, and integrate cryogenics, signal chain, and control software for experiments.
• Provide recommendations to improve next-generation quantum processors based on research findings.
