Job summary

Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice in Public Relations and Advertising, beginning Spring or Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach primarily in the Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication program and contribute to the Public Relations and Advertising concentration.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in public relations, advertising, mass communication, or a closely related field is required or a distinguished professional record in lieu of the terminal degree.
• Significant professional experience in PR/advertising and digital marketing may be considered in lieu of the terminal degree.
• Experience teaching at the university level or with industry partnerships is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 4/4 course load in public relations and advertising.
• Develop applied, project-based courses with client work and partnerships.
• Advise and mentor students and support career development.
• Engage with industry partners and contribute to curriculum and assessment.
