Job summary

Tower Research Capital in New York is seeking an AI/ML Applied Research Engineer to sit at the cutting edge of our ML infrastructure and research teams. You will act as Customer Zero for our internal ML Research platform and push the system to its limits across hardware and software layers.

You will prototype, benchmark, and stress-test models at scale, leveraging AI agents and auto-research workflows to accelerate experimentation and provide data-driven insights for platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Engineering Foundation with Python and software design.
• Hands-on experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience scaling ML workloads across GPUs and multi-node clusters with Ray/Dask.
• Familiarity with AI agent workflows and LLM tooling.
• Ability to build scalable APIs and abstractions for researchers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary feedback loop for the entire ML stack.
• Run complex models through the full ML pipeline to test training and inference.
• Validate central infrastructure and identify bottlenecks before rollout.
• Build high-level abstractions to reduce setup friction.
• Integrate ML tooling with simulation and data frameworks for a unified entry point.
• Enable rapid iteration on real-world data and distributed training via Ray.
• Act as technical advisor, sharing progress and guiding strategy.
• Document and publish empirical findings on system capabilities.
• Advise researchers on how best to leverage the stack.
