Job summary

Jobtailor in Golden, CO is seeking a Research Software Engineer to design, develop, and test software for AI/ML, HPC, and research projects. You will translate research into production systems and collaborate across a broad network of government, university, and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience, or Master's with 3+ years, or PhD; equivalent education/experience may qualify.
• Must meet educational requirements before employment start date.
• Demonstrated experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience writing clean, efficient, maintainable code according to coding standards and guidelines.
• Experience designing, developing, and testing software applications and components using modern technologies.
• Knowledge of Python and at least one other major programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C/C++).
• Ability to communicate complex technical documentation clearly and precisely.
• Experience in a research lab environment; technical publications and proposal-writing experience.
• Ability to context-shift and support multiple projects simultaneously; support junior researchers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and rigorously test software applications and components.
• Apply best practices and cutting-edge technologies to support mission-critical research projects.
• Work across the research-to-implementation stack, including designing and evaluating AI models.
• Translate research findings into production-ready systems.
• Collaborate with peers, mentors, and various gov/academic partners.
• Provide independent technical tasks and adapt to project needs.
• Support multiple projects and assist junior-level researchers and developers.
• Contribute to technical publications and proposal writing.
