Job summary

University of California Merced is seeking an assistant specialist in labor research to support applied labor research and policy projects at the UC Merced Community and Labor Center.

Under the supervision of a professional researcher, you will work with the center’s research unit to conduct research on labor and employment issues, contribute to IRB submissions, prepare instruments, and co-author briefs and reports.

Qualifications

• Masters-level or equivalent expertise in labor research.
• Experience applying labor research to policy.
• Ability to prepare and manage research instruments and data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on issues related to labor and employment.
• Contribute to IRB submissions for human subjects research.
• Prepare research instruments for center research and program evaluation.
• Collect data from diverse sources and code both quantitative and qualitative data.
• Co-author and format fact sheets, briefs, and reports.
• Create and deliver research presentations and participate in sponsored project applications.
• Engage with labor organizations and stakeholders through trainings and events.
