Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Applications Software Engineer in Applied AI to design, evaluate, deploy, and integrate modern AI systems powering SpaceX products and infrastructure. You will own end-to-end lifecycle from prototype to production, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.

You will work on AI models, agentic systems, tool-use, and long-context applications, focusing on reliability, safety, and scalable performance in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of professional software experience.
• 1+ years of experience in full stack development.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable software solutions used across SpaceX, including AI-powered applications that accelerate production, flight, and Starlink operations.
• Create new applications that incorporate modern large language models and agentic AI capabilities.
• Own the full lifecycle of Applied AI systems from prototype to production.
• Deep dive into users’ problems to uncover high-leverage AI opportunities and deliver production-grade solutions.
• Architect production systems for agentic workflows, tool-use, multi-agent orchestration, and long-context applications focusing on reliability and safety.
• Build and maintain evaluation frameworks and AI observability for quality, safety, latency, and cost.
• Stay at the frontier of LLM techniques and rapidly adopt best practices in production systems.
