Our client, AI Infrastructure Product Group is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their team. As a Software Development Engineer - Applied AI Software Engineer – Azure & Agentic AI, you will be part of the Azure AI Infrastructure Product Group’s TPM organization supporting the creation of AI-first program management frameworks and operational execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering mindset for non-deterministic systems, hands‑on experience building production‑ready cloud services, and the drive to observe real workflows before automating them.

Job Title: Applied AI Software Engineer – Azure & Agentic AI

Location: Remote (must work EST hours). Candidates local to Charlotte will be prioritized.

Pay Range: $55 - $57.hr on Experis W2 (Benefits/PTO/401k)

Top 3 Must-Have HARD Skills & years of experience for each:

  • 1.Strong proficiency in .NET (preferably .NET 10 or recent versions), C#, Python, and SQL for backend development.
  • 2.Hands‑on experience building with LLMs and AI services, including prompt engineering, and at least one AI‑powered feature, agent, or automation you carried into production or near‑production and can discuss in technical depth.
  • – Experience enhancing and maintaining existing AI applications through feature development, bug resolution, and workflow optimization,
  • 3.In‑depth knowledge of Azure services including App Services, Azure SQL, Logic Apps, and Azure AI tooling such as Copilot Studio, AI Foundry, and AI Search.

  • Build agentic workflows using Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Agent Framework, MCP, and related orchestration patterns, including multi‑step tool use and human‑in‑the‑loop checkpoints.
  • Replatform working prototypes into secure, observable, supportable production services with real architecture, testing, telemetry, and an accountable ownership model.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services on Azure App Services that allow agents and automation to act on systems of record safely and within scope.
  • Instrument and evaluate AI systems with quality infrastructure (offline eval sets, regression gates, drift detection) and build observability for cost, latency, tool‑call outcomes, and safe rollback.
What's Needed?
  • Strong proficiency in .NET (preferably .NET 10 or recent versions), C#, Python, and SQL for backend development.
  • Hands‑on experience building with LLMs and AI services, including prompt engineering, and at least one AI‑powered feature, agent, or automation you carried into production or near‑production that you can discuss in technical depth.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Azure services including App Services, Azure SQL, Logic Apps, and Azure AI tooling such as Copilot Studio, AI Foundry, and AI Search.
  • Demonstrated experience automating real workflows through process automation, orchestration, integration, or agentic tooling, with sound judgment about where automation pays off.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and work tracking, plus the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
