Job summary

Hudson River Trading seeks an experienced AI infrastructure engineer to join the Applied AI team in New York. You will build scalable infrastructure for training, evaluating, and operating language models and AI agents, collaborating with researchers and developers to accelerate experimentation.

You will advance model capabilities via post-training, RL, prompting, and tool design, while ensuring safe, auditable systems. Strong Python and software engineering skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Excellent software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience building and operating substantial software systems.
• Demonstrated engagement with modern AI systems, tools, or research.
• Machine learning research or engineering incl. post-training, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, or alignment.
• AI-agent architecture, evaluation, or tool-use environments.

Responsibilities

• Building scalable infrastructure for training, evaluating, and operating language models and AI agents.
• Developing research environments, evaluation systems, and experimentation platforms to measure and improve agent performance.
• Improving model and agent capabilities through post-training, reinforcement learning, prompting, tool design, and workflow optimization.
• Designing sandboxing, policy enforcement, monitoring, and safeguards for autonomous systems.
• Partnering with teams across HRT to identify work AI can perform and turn experiments into durable systems.
• Evaluating new models, techniques, and products and deciding when to build, buy, or adapt them.
• Sharing technical knowledge and best practices for building and working with AI across HRT.
