Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience in machine learning, data science, software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience with NLP, information retrieval, LLMs, or related AI technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with RAG, knowledge graphs, vector databases, embeddings, entity extraction, NLP pipelines, or agentic AI.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience moving AI solutions from prototypes to deployed systems.
  • Strong communication skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be based in Massachusetts or willing to relocate and able to work a hybrid schedule in the Boston area.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI solutions that transform complex, unstructured information into actionable insights.
  • Build AI-driven workflows using NLP, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge graphs, embeddings, vector search, entity extraction, and AI agents.
  • Own projects from initial problem definition and prototyping through testing, deployment, evaluation, and iteration.
  • Develop benchmarks and evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, relevance, reliability, and potential failure modes.
  • Partner with technical and business teams to identify opportunities where AI and data can improve existing workflows and decision-making.
  • Translate complex technical and analytical findings into clear recommendations, tools, and visualizations for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Establish strong practices around data quality, testing, documentation, reproducibility, and responsible AI.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine where they can provide meaningful business value.

Senior Applied AI Data Scientist

A leading organization is seeking a Senior Applied AI Data Scientist to join a data and analytics team focused on developing practical AI solutions that transform complex, unstructured information into structured, actionable insights.

The individual will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities for AI and develop solutions that improve research, analysis, operational workflows, and decision-making.

  • Experience moving AI or machine-learning solutions beyond prototypes into tested and deployed solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Familiarity with software‑engineering practices including version control, testing, documentation, and production development.
  • Strong understanding of machine‑learning fundamentals, AI evaluation techniques, and the capabilities and limitations of LLM‑based systems.
  • Ability to independently structure ambiguous problems and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with senior stakeholders.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Must be based in Massachusetts or willing to relocate and able to work a hybrid schedule in the Boston area.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with complex, data-intensive environments.
  • Experience analyzing scientific literature, technical information, research data, or other complex datasets.
  • Experience with Spark, PySpark, cloud‑based AI platforms, or production‑scale data pipelines.
  • Experience partnering directly with research, technical, business, or executive stakeholders.

Salary Range: $150,000–$190,000
