Job summary

Apple is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to architect and deliver end-to-end AI-enabled data platforms at scale. You will build AI systems combining LLMs, agents and deterministic components for iCloud-scale data workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building scalable systems.
• 3+ years taking LLM or agentic systems from prototype to production.
• Architect and operate production-grade AI products with LLMs and agents.
• Strong ML/DL fundamentals: transformers, embeddings, evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, or Go for production code.
• Hands-on fluency with LLM frameworks, vector databases, and agents.
• Production discipline: telemetry, guardrails, offline evals, monitoring.
• Experience with data infra: SQL engines, lakehouse, orchestration, streaming.

Responsibilities

• Build AI foundation of data platform and scalable AI products.
• Design end-to-end AI systems: retrieval, reasoning, evaluation, deployment.
• Improve cost, latency, throughput, and token economics of AI systems.
• Develop AI-native tools: data interfaces, pipelines, and alerting.
• Mentor engineers, lead workshops, and promote responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Research teams.
